Pendulum Impact Testing of Metallic, Non-Metallic, and Hybrid Sign Posts, Phase II

The objectives of this project are to fabricate second generation hybrid system and conduct experimental testing and to aid Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Structures Research Center in determining Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) requirements for accreditation of the FDOT impact pendulum as relates to surrogate small-car impact testing. In this context, "accreditation" means that experimental test results obtained from the FDOT impact pendulum will be accepted by the FHWA for use in the approval of roadside safety hardware.
