Implementation of Geosynthetic-Reinforced Unbound Base Courses

This project will establish material specifications for geosynthetics used to reinforce unbound base courses, particularly for those placed on subgrades comprising of expansive clays. This project includes the following: (1) producing material property data using the small pullout equipment developed in 0-4829 to establish specifications, (2) collecting field performance data to establish limits of acceptable material property values, (3) developing guidance documents for proper selection and inspection, and (4) providing support and training to Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) personnel for the use of geosynthetic-reinforced pavements.
