Wildlife Vehicle Collision Mitigation Study: SR260 Rim to Show Low

Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) wildlife-vehicle collision data indicate that collisions with elk and deer make up a large proportion of all accidents along SR 260 from the Mogollon Rim to Show Low. This study will use techniques used in the Payson-Rim project to determine elk (and potentially deer) distribution and movement near SR 260 from the Rim (MP 280) to Show Low (MP 340.1) and their crossing patterns. The results will be used to recommend strategies that can be implemented to reduce collisions with wildlife as part of future reconstruction of the highway. Potential strategies could include wildlife passage structures.
