Development of Minimum Standards for Event-based Data Collection Loggers and Performance Measure Definitions for Signalized Intersections

The main objective of this research is to develop a set of specifications that will define enumerations (e.g. type, size, frequency) required for traffic controller data logging and reporting as well as methods to convert this data into real-time performance measures. This research will be used to set minimum standards that current and future providers (e.g. controller manufacturers) of high-resolution on event-based traffic signal data must satisfy in order for their data logs to be transferable into traffic signal performance measures adopted by the Department. Recommendations of such real-time performance measures and systems (e.g. hardware and software that can produce those performance measures) should also be an outcome of this research.
