RECAST 2B Roller Compacted Concrete for Rapid Pavement Construction

The study will aim at the development of mixture optimization methodology to design novel materials that can be used in rapid pavement construction through detailed laboratory testing and field implementation. The mixture proportions will be developed to achieve the mixture with satisfactory workability and mechanical and durability properties. Quarterly Progress (Jan-Mar 2016): Work is currently underway on Task 3 of the Research Plan. Task 3 is the optimization of the mixture with adequate air-void structure. The samples are completing their 28-day testing period for compressive strength and electrical resistivity. Quarterly Progress (Apr-Jun 2016): A delay in mixing occurred from January to March due to a regulation change of the Class C fly ash used in the testing program. Therefore, the new approved fly ash similar to the materials used in Subtask 3.1 was used in Subtask 3.2 in the beginning of April. Testing continued through the quarter.
