Effective Post-Construction Best Management Practices to Infiltrate & Retain Storm Water Run-Off

The objective of this proposal is to develop a best management practices (BMP) installation guideline that will inform Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) officials regarding the most effective BMP practices in reducing postconstruction stormwater runoff considering BMP cost, performance, and maintenance requirements. Specifically, the research team will: (1) Identify practices for controlling stormwater runoff after construction. (2) Explore, identify, and examine the potential performance of BMPs for infiltrating and retaining post-construction stormwater runoff. (3) Develop design guidance on installation and maintenance of the most practicable BMPs for IDOT projects.
