Intelligent Compaction of Asphalt Pavement Implementation

This study will explore the effectiveness of Asphalt Mix QC and/or QA by using IC Rollers and available Data output (Coverage and/or Stiffness and/or Temperature) in combination with, or as a replacement for, in-place density. The specific deliverables from this research include review of applications of IC technology by other DOTs through surveys and interviews, data analysis of IC data from demonstration site in 2009, application of IC- stiffness as the property of the QA, and the improvement of accuracy level of asphalt mix acceptance by using IC stiffness and in-place density.
