Composite Action in Prestressed NU I-Girder Bridge Deck Systems Constructed with Bond Breakers to Facilitate Deck Removal

The proposed research program is designed to identify a preferred construction detail for NU I-Girder (brand name) bridge deck systems that: (1) is constructible, (2) facilitates deck removal and replacement, (3) exhibits acceptably low deterioration under 106 cycles of fatigue loading, and (4) develops sufficient strength and stiffness to maintain composite action after 106 cycles.
