Simple Performance Tester for Superpave Mix Design

The objectives of this research are to (1) design, procure, and evaluate simple performance testers for use in Superpave mix design and in hot mix asphalt (HMA) materials characterization for pavement structural design and (2) evaluate and refine the indirect tensile test (IDT) procedures proposed for use as the simple performance test for low-temperature cracking and as the materials characterization test for low-temperature cracking in the Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Guide developed in National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Project 1-37A.
