Research for the AASHTO Standing Committee on the Environment. Task 79. Successful Practices for Effective Tribal Consultation

The goal of this research project was to prepare a report (a) showcasing successful practices in tribal consultation (with all federally recognized tribes) and (b) providing guidance on how to build and maintain successful tribal consultation programs. The sources of these successful practices and guidance include programs implemented by state federal highway administration (FHWA) division offices, state departments of transportation (DOTs), local transportation planning organizations and agencies, and Federally recognized tribes.
