Quick Response for Special Needs. Task 20. Developing Problem Statements on Information Technology Issues at Airports

Information technology (IT) and the business applications that use IT permeate every aspect or function of the airport operation. Yet, limited information is readily available to airport operators regarding the factors that should be considered as changes occur to the maintenance, administration, or operation of the airport or to the available technology itself. The Airport Operators Council (AOC) wishes to identify issues related to IT that could benefit from applied research and be immediately put into practice upon completion. The Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) has facilitated a special discussion for practitioners with interest and responsibility for the oversight of IT at airports. The objective of this discussion was to identify and develop a handful of research ideas related to IT and impacting airports that could benefit from ACRP research. Participants outlined the need, objective, and preliminary scope of the research ideas that were discussed.
