Research for AASHTO Standing Committee on Highways. Task 354. Work Zone Speed Limits and Crash Data Practices
The objective of this project is to determine effective strategies for managing speeds in work zones that result in the appropriate balance of safety and mobility. Multiple National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) on-going research projects are complementing this 20-07 anticipated study. NCHRP 17-43, "Long-Term Roadside Crash Data Collection Program", NCHRP 17-57, "Development of a Comprehensive Approach for Serious Traffic Crash Injury Measurement and Reporting Systems." NCHRP 20-24(37)K, "Measuring Performance among State Departments of Transportation (DOTs): Sharing Good Practices -Safety (Serious Injuries)" was completed and will be feeding in to this 20-07 project initiative. The intent is to have the results of these current on-going research activities at a reasonable maturity level so the results can be available to compliment the 20-07 study and not duplicate efforts.
