SPR-3916: Scour Protection Determination for Small Culverts
The main objective of this proposal is to propose a more appropriate procedure for riprap design that takes into consideration more flow variables than just the outlet velocity. This objective will be accomplished through modeling and laboratory experiments. The project deliverables are (a) a thorough literature review and comparative analysis of riprap design from neighboring state agencies and HEC-14; and (b) a report detailing the scope of the study, methodology and the findings with regard to various riprap designs and their behavior; and (c) draft design recommendations for the Indiana Design Manual based on the findings of this project.
