RECAST 3A Fiber Reinforced Concrete

The expected result from this study will be guidelines and performance-based specifications for the evaluation, selection, and specification of fiber reinforce-self consolidating concrete (FR-SCC) for infrastructure repair of bridge substructures and FR-SWC for the construction of bridge substructure and superstructure elements. Quarterly Progress (Jan-Mar 2016): The work for this quarter included stages 4, 5, and 6 of Task 3. Task 3 is the cracking resistance and structural performance testing. An additional eight mixtures from Task 2C were prepared to evaluate drying shrinkage, restrained shrinkage, and freeze/thaw durability of the optimized mixtures. Quarterly Progress (Apr-Jun 2016): A no cost extension was requested and granted for the project. There were some problems in a laboratory drain and storage issues associated with the big volume of 30 beams along with some weather conditions that caused an issue with the local Ready-Mix supplier.
