SPR-3940: Chemical Modification of Uniform Soils and Soils with High/Low Plasticity Indexes
The research will explore the use of cement and lime by product as a mixture for chemical modification of soils with low and high plasticity, and uniform granular soils. The deliverables of the project are guidelines for design and construction that will include mixtures of lime and cement as chemical improvement of soil. The benefits of the project are: (1) expand and provide more flexibility to current Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) specifications; (2) lower the cost of projects by reducing the number of change orders; and (3) reduce the duration of construction by providing suitable alternatives to changing soil conditions in the field.
