Second SHRP 2 Freight Modeling and Data Innovation
The Second Freight Modeling and Data Symposium had practitioners from private industry and public agencies share tools and knowledge that help transportation planners focus on freight flows and use private-sector techniques to amplify freight demand forecasting models, data, and visualization methods which ultimately help public and private-sector decision makers improve transportation infrastructure and operations. A final report including presentation abstracts will document the findings of the symposium. This conference furthers the science of freight demand modeling, forecasting, and visualization by showcasing unique methods, practices, and innovative solutions, and by developing a community of practice that enhances the dialogue between the public and private sectors. Participants also had the opportunity to shape and advance the prioritization of ongoing and future research topics and provide input on future research needs. The second symposium was held on October 21-22, 2013. The circular, which contains presentation abstracts will be completed in the fall of 2014.
