Research for AASHTO Standing Committee on Highways. Task 334. Primer on the Joint Use of the HSM and HFG
To create a primer for highway planners, designers and traffic engineers that explain how the Highway Safety Manual (HSM) and Human Factors Guidelines (HFG) can be used jointly in the planning and development of new and improved road design projects. The primer will illustrate a five-step process and provide computational examples that can be easily used by highway planners, designers and traffic engineers. The primer will permit the highway planner, designer and traffic engineer to provide for the needs and limitations of the road user, thus enhancing road design and operational safety for all.
