Prevention of Stripping Under Chipseals
Asphalt pavement stripping was identified as a major concern for approximately 60 percent of all Cities who attended the 2014 City Engineer's Association of Minnesota conference in January, 2014 and approximately one-third of the Counties that attended the County Engineers Association conference. Stripping under chip seals has caused concern for municipality staff responsible for maintaining and rehabilitating asphalt pavements. The City of Woodbury is experiencing premature aging of the pavement on streets constructed in the mid-1990's which resulted in questions by residents and City officials relating to reoccurrence of stripping in newer pavements.
