Disc Shaped Compact Tension (DCT) Specifications Development for Asphalt Pavement

The objectives of the research are to: (1) assess disc shaped compact tension (DCT) testing variability through round robin testing among selected consultants and Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT); and (2) verify / establish fracture energy criterion for asphalt concrete construction acceptance; (3) reviewing existing literature and data from MnDOT and other agencies; (4) develop DCT testing and fracture energy specifications for asphalt mix acceptance; and (5) provide support to MnDOT for implementing the DCT testing specification, if needed.
