Synthesis of Information Related to Highway Problems. Topic 46-14. Practices for High-Tension Cable Barrier (HTCB)

In recent years, many transportation agencies have installed or are in the process of installing High-Tension Cable Barriers (HTCB). As the number of installations increase, the various design features and practices need to be summarized in order to consider the state of the practice and assess the need for further development. The objective of this synthesis is to document existing transportation agencies' specifications and special provisions; design criteria; and installation, construction, and maintenance practices. Incident management, manufacturers' information, maintenance experience, and cable barrier performance will also be documented. This synthesis is intended for state departments of transportation (DOTS), other transportation agencies, manufacturers, and other interested stakeholders.
