SPR-3807: Investigating the Need for HMA Drainage Layers
The objective of this project is to determine if flexible pavements without HMA drainage layers can perform as well, or better as flexible pavements containing them. Project deliverables include: updated hydraulic properties of current INDOT HMA materials; model of moisture migration in flexible pavements; results indicating if newer specifications better inhibit moisture migration; and a plan for long‐term monitoring of the instrumented pavement sites.
