Determination of Barge Impact Probabilities for Bridge Design

The objective of this project is to revise expression for the combined effects of PA and PG be developed - referred to as the probability of impact (PI) - so that annual frequency of collapse (AF) values predicted by the overall process - including the use of load, design force, and PC expressions developed under Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) funding - agree with historically observed rates of bridge collapse. The development of the probability of impact (PI) expression, which is considered critical to implementation of FDOT barge impact research results, will focus primarily on Florida bridges and waterways.
