SPR-3832: Friction Surface Treatment Selection
Providing durable, friction surface treatment has been proven as an effective countermeasure to vehicle crashes on horizontal curves. The two types of friction surface treatment will be evaluated in the study, including high friction surface treatment (HFST) and pavement preservation treatment. This study aims to evaluate the in-service performance of HFST and conventional preservation treatments, provide first-hand data on the cost-effectiveness of the selected surface friction treatments, and establish general guides for the agency to apply surface friction treatments.
