SPR-3814: Ecologically-aware Design of Waterway-encapsulating Structures
This project will review the relevant literature and examine approaches emphasizing stream connectivity as an ecologically desirable goal. In particular, embedded bankfull culverts will be considered. Field experience in Indiana and possibly neighboring states will be assessed. Project results will provide a rational basis for developing alternative design procedures that can be incorporated into the relevant portions of the INDOT design manual and standard specifications.
