Mobile LiDAR Integration with Other Data Sources

The objectives of this project are to review the current state of practice for merging aerial and mobile LiDAR data sets together and identify a mechanism to merge both data sets into a single searchable database; review the current state of practice for using ground penetrating radar (GPR) and mobile LiDAR together for 3-D roadway modeling; work with LiDAR and GPR industry software developers to identify best practices to link both 3-D data sets together to create a complete above and below ground 3-D model of the highway infrastructure; work with Kentucky Transportation Cabinet officials to develop a 3-D model for a pilot project used for highway design; and educate the design and construction communities on how to use merged 3-D imagery data sets to design and construct better highway infrastructure projects.
