Evaluation of Fog Predictions and Detections

The objectives of this project are to: (1) Determine from satellite data where fog is likely to occur and at what frequency in the state of Florida to provide key component of accident potential due to visibility in the state. It is also a key component to any attempt to forecast fog. (2) Provide meteorological expertise to Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) in its current efforts to develop and deploy fog detection and notification technology.
