Whatcom Smart Trips Program
The Whatcom Council of Governments (WCOG) is provided funding for the research project titled "Whatcom Smart Trips Program". Whatcom Smart Trips is a successful community-wide vehicle trip reduction program implemented by WCOG in July 2006. Whatcom Smart Trips includes educational, assistance and incentive programs. Funding will be provided by the U. Department of Transportation, Office of the Secretary to WCOG to increase residential-based education campaigns to promote alternative transportation in the region. WCOG will conduct the required planning effort or study, and provide data and summary reports. Information gained from this project may be useful in developing similar programs throughout the country.
