The Nissan/University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI) Advanced Crash Avoidance Technologies (ACAT) project is focused on driver situational awareness in relation to lane-change/merge maneuvers that can result in crashes. This research will investigate the feasibility of developing a safety impact methodology that can estimate the safety benefits of lane change/merge countermeasures.
