Advanced Transportation Technology Institute (ATTI)
This project supports the ongoing effort of the Advanced Transportation Technology Institute (ATTI)--formerly the Electric Transit Vehicle Institute--whose mission is to advance clean transportation technologies to promote a healthy environment and energy independence through research, education, and technology transfer. The objective of this work program is to leverage the technical skills of the institute with the assets of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga to complete a number of projects that will assist in the development of advanced technology and/or alternative fuel options for public transit that will support the nation's efforts to reduce our dependency on foreign oil and improve air quality. These ongoing efforts within the Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) to advance electric propulsion technology, fuel cells and promote alternative fuels are providing the foundation for moving towards a cleaner and more efficient way of transporting the transit riding public.
