Implementation of Rapid Assessment Tools for Structural Parts after Extreme Events
Bridges represent crucial elements of our civil infrastructure network and owners need quantitative assessment tools to know whether they can rely on the bridges that survived an extreme event in order to plan their recovery missions. This research project presents the continuation and implementation phase of a University of Delaware University Transportation Center (UDUTC) project funded last year that is developing a methodology for a rapid assessment tool for structural steel parts after severe events. The objective of this project is to evaluate the developed methods on more realistic structural steel connection details in the laboratory as well as in the field.
