Native Vegetation Establishment for IDOT Erosion Control BMPs

The objective of this research project is to improve the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) establishment of native vegetation during and after construction. This project will develop best management practices for establishment and management of roadside vegetation. These improvements should reduce material and management costs, and more effectively support environmentally friendly transportation management. Perform literature review of IDOT, state and Federal land management units. Evaluate species mixes at construction sites across Illinois.
