Joint University Research Program to Meet Future Air Transportation Technological Needs

As part of the Joint University Program, this project will investigate the following areas to meet future air transportation technological needs: (1) unified criteria for establishment of alert thresholds; (2) development of a flight test platform for evaluation of integrated cockpit information architectures; (3) an interactive adaptive system for automated final approach spacing of aircraft; (4) digital path vectoring; (5) optimal flight planning under traffic constraints; and (6) human interface issues associated with complex trajectories in the terminal area.
