Freeway Travel Time Estimation and Forecasting
The objectives of this project is to: 1) Incorporate recent advances in traffic flow theory and simulation to build a framework able to predict the onset and propagation of congestion across the Metropolitan Atlanta freeway network, 2) generate realistic real time travel time forecasts in the network based on short-term (15-30 min) forecasts of future congestion levels in the network obtained from simulation, and 3) test the proposed framework on a study corridor in the Metropolitan Atlanta network
