Designing, Producing & Constructing Fine-Graded Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) on IL Roadways

This study will involve a comprehensive literature review, a survey of key practitioners, a review of related agency specifications, lab testing, and accelerated pavement testing. Lab testing will include Bailey mix design, gyratory compaction and volumetric analysis of compacted mixture specimens of a wide range of F-G mixtures, mechanical testing of promising mix designs, construction of test pavements and full-scale accelerated pavement testing using the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) ATLAS device.
