Coordinating the Use and Location of Weigh-In-Motion Technology

The objective of this project is to determine the potential to maximize the use of weigh-in-motion (WIM) technology by coordinating deployment and facilitating the sharing of data collected. Although the primary focus will be on the coordination between the Division of Planning, the Department of Vehicle Regulation (DVR) and the Kentucky State Police (KSP), this project will also identify other stakeholders and consider their needs in future installations. This project will include a pilot implementation of a shared WIM. Best practices for the type of technology that should be utilized (in various scenarios) and how the data should be shared will be determined through the pilot implementation.
