Implementing and Deploying Data Management Tools within Geotechnical Services

Geotechnical Services and the Division of Research and Innovation have been working closely over the past several years through jointly resourced efforts to develop and implement a comprehensive data management approach for borehole, lab test, and insitu test data, including the development of standardized data models and reporting formats, standardization of software tools, evaluation of data collection technologies, optimization of workflow practices, and data dissemination and visualization tools. The research project to date has produced a number of core technologies, tools, and methods that establish a basis for this goal. However, additional time and resources are needed to achieve the final deployable product. Geotechnical Services won't fully benefit from these advancements until implementation and deployment tasks are complete. The primary deliverable of this research project, when completed, is a pilot geotechnical data management system for Geotechnical Services.
