Air Quality Health Effects and Highway Proximity
The Health Effects Institute (HEI) shall conduct research and activities under this grant agreement to further the understanding of the fundamental science and relationship between on-road vehicle emissions and the health of people who live at various distances from roads or who spend differing amounts of time in traffic. HEI will conduct the following: (1) Obtain scientific based, objective research; (2) Develop, maintain and expand the existing information base on the health effects of air pollution, especially as it relates to mobile source air toxics project decision documents and transportation delivery; and (3) Provide accurate and up-to-date information concerning air pollution trends, especially as it relates to alternative fuels and new technologies.
