Synthesis of Information Related to Transit Problems. Topic SB-17. Innovative Rural Transit Service

There is lower population density to contend with, as well as sprawl adding to existing deficiencies in basic infrastructure, which impacts mobility and access to basic services. Linkages to general health care, employment, as well as other needs-based services are inadequate. There is also a general lack of transportation to engage in daily life activities such as shopping, recreation, and other quality of life endeavors. This synthesis will focus is on transit's response to rural community transportation service needs. It will document the state-of-the-practice, covering rural transportation service innovations.
