Thin Film Coatings for Concrete

The objectives of this project are to identify concrete coatings/coatings systems and typical structural applications, assess concrete surface preparation steps for the various coatings, prepare guidelines for using the various coatings/coatings systems, identify benefits of specific coatings/coatings systems, and conduct laboratory tests and field trials. The project provides the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) with a list of effective bridge coatings/coatings systems that can be used for new construction and maintenance, and identify/develop aesthetic coatings including reflective coatings.
