Design and Construction Coordination to Facilitate GPS Machine Control

The objectives of this project art to: (1) review current technologies available for machine grade control using a Global Positioning System (GPS); (2) review other agencies guidelines for GPS survey specifications and coordination between highway designers and construction personnel; (3) conduct field trials using GPS machine control to evaluate coordination activities necessary; and (4) Evaluate the feasibility of utilizing the Kentucky Continuously Operation Reference System (CORS) as based stations for GPS machine control.
