SS-RTSP Evaluation Plan

Transit Signal Priority (TPS) is an operational strategy that facilitates the movement of in-service transit vehicles, either busses or streetcars, through traffic controlled delay and travel time, thereby increasing the quality of service. The main objectives of this research are to: (1) quantitatively evaluate the TSP benefits for transit operations; (2) calculate the overall impacts of the TSP system of local traffic networks; and (3) understand how the TSP effects change with traffic conditions and signal control parameters, and recommend optimal system changes.
