Evaluation of Metallized Bridge Structures

It is anticipated that this research project will result in a report detailing the performance of metallizing as a corrosion protection system on bridges and, if such a research is positive, specifications for its use by the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) as well. The desired outcome for this project it to recommend which metallized treatments are preferable for bridges in a Northeastern climate, best application equipment, cost for both shop and field applications, and best specification language to assure long-term corrosion protection. This study supports the Department's goals to assure safety and mobility/reliability and a desire to achieve durability of Department infrastructure.
