Load and Resistance Factor Rating (LRFR) in NYS

A final report will be produced that recommends guidelines for 1) a systematic program to update existing data, procedures, and policies and 2) to develop draft procedures and policies, to meet new standards, for implementation by the Department. Desired Outcome: The availability of guidelines will allow New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) bridge load rating, bridge load posting, and overweight permitting program areas to implement the recently AASHTO adopted Load and Resistant Factor Rating (LRFR) of Highway Bridges specification and methodology as mandated by FHWA and, as needed, to develop a systematic program to update existing data, procedures, and policies. This study supports the Department’s priority result areas for safety and mobility and reliability.
