Development of a Wireless Real-Time Productivity Measurement System for Rapid Bridge Replacement
Results of previous research indicate that there is an urgent need to strengthen the communication and coordination among the parties involved in the bridge replacement process after extreme events. To achieve this goal, researchers at KU are developing a knowledge-based information system for bridge replacement (KBISBR). The objectives of this research are to develop and test a wireless real-time productivity measurement system, which is one of the key components of the KBISBR. The wireless real-time productivity measurement technology has a great promise to address communication and coordination issues, to control cost overruns, to improve construction schedule forecasts, and to increase emergency response capability after extreme events.
