<p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-layout-grid-align: none"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt"><font face="Times New Roman">Despite 30 years of successfully reducing the effects of aircraft noise, millions of people living near airports worldwide continue to be affected.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span>Noise continues to be one of the primary environmental concerns the public has with aircraft operations and more information is sought on the effects of noise from aircraft.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span>The federal government, local government, airport operators, airlines, and aircraft manufactures continue to invest heavily in reducing aircraft noise exposure. </font></span><span style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt"><font face="Times New Roman">In 1985, the FAA published the <em style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal">Aviation Noise Effects</em> document, which served as a compendium of research concerning the effects of aircraft noise.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span>Since that time, extensive research has been conducted concerning all of the topics addressed in the 1985 document.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span>However, no centralized location exists that summarizes the findings of new research and conclusions.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes">  </span>A compendium of current research is needed concerning the effects of aircraft noise on residents regarding selected topics listed below.<o:p></o:p></font></span></p><p class="MsoNormal" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; mso-layout-grid-align: none"><span style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt"><o:p><font face="Times New Roman"> </font></o:p></span></p>
