I-65 In-situ Pavement Evaluation (FWD) and Cross Drain Testing
Kentucky is currently working toward widening and rehabilitating the I-65 interstate corridor. To assist in the roadway design process an evaluation of the existing pavement and roadway conditions is necessary. Two of the major components of this effort are determining the in-situ pavement conditions through non-destructive testing utilizing the Falling Weight Deflectometer and determining the condition of the roadway cross drains and culverts. The evaluation of the culverts and cross drains is necessary to determine to what extent replacement or reconstruction of these structures is necessary.
