Improved Operations of Small Drains
Storage of runoff from roadway projects requires detention ponds and regulating outlet (drainage) structures. Many of these drains are small size orifices of an inch or less. Experience has shown that these small orifices are a maintenance problem due to clogging,, and detention ponds are not operating as designed. There is a decreased storage effect and downstream discharge beyond allowable levels. This project will combine field and lab work to find low cost methods of decreasing or eliminating clogging in small drains.
