Revised Guidance for Brownfields and Other Waste Sites

The objective of this project is to develop the materials needed for a revised guidance document on Brownfields, hazardous waste sites, and contaminated substances encountered, either during the development and implementation of a transportation project, or within the highway right-of-way. As one objective, the materials will be used by the FHWA to provide procedures, guidelines, and policy to States for the appropriate use of Federal-aid funds on Brownfields or hazardous waste sites. A second objective is to help States identify procedures to be followed when contaminated substances are encountered during construction, operation, or maintenance of a highway/transportation project.
