Historic Context for the Federal System
This project is divided into several tasks, which include: (1) conducting an extensive literature search; (2) defining preliminary themes by preparing a chronological overview of the development of the Interstate System; (3) conducting symposiums; and (4) developing a preliminary and final version of the historical context of the Federal System. Monthly progress meetings and/or conference calls with FHWA's headquarters office should occur throughout the project, in order to discuss status, problems, next steps, etc. A maximum of four of these meetings will take place in FHWA headquarters office, while the remainder can be conference calls. Detailed minutes of each meeting / conference call should be prepared.
