Combining Audio, Visualization, and Decision Modeling Tools to Solicit Public Preferences Regarding Highway Noise Impacts

This project is a collaboration with visualization work already underway at the Kentucky Transportation Center. Visual and noise simulations of transportation projects will be used that allow the public to provide informed input regarding their perceptions and preferences. Activities in this phase of research will include a literature search, review of other state transportation agencies noise issues, review of equipment and software needs, assessment recommendation of available noise modeling software to interact with the visualization tools, and identifying the elements required to meet the ultimate goal.
